UK Health Security Agency: blending public health, national security & surveillance

I was wondering why Public Health England hadn't released a 'variants of concern' briefing since 17th September. It used to be updated fortnightly and include a breakdown of the vaccine status of cases, hospitalisations and deaths, so my suspicious mind immediately shot to the theory that the data was showing too many jabbed people being hospitalised and dying.

Afer some poking, I realised that the Government had quietly switched on its new public health arm, the UK Health Security Agency. Doesn't sound sinister at all, does it?

The agency builds on the legacy of Public Health England, NHS Test and Trace and the Joint Biosecurity Centre to help keep the nation safe.
UKHSA will operate as an integral part of the public health system and the national security infrastructure, utilising state-of-the-art technologies and ground-breaking capabilities in data analytics and genomic surveillance to tackle coronavirus (COVID-19) and future threats locally, nationally and globally.
